Welcome & Keynote
When technology is used effectively and responsibly we have the ability to share many things, including our thoughts, ideas, and learning in a variety of ways. In some cases, these thoughts can drive change from how we learn to even greater change within our social and political systems. We also need to have a strong understanding of what equity, diversity, and learning culture truly mean. The key is to leverage the use of our "voice" as a catalyst for representing and presenting our thinking. This keynote will take a close look at how technology can and is being used as a conduit for our voice. Everyone has a voice and every voice should be heard.

Solve Your World with Three Act Math
Limited Capacity seats available

People love stories—it is human nature. So why not teach math like a story, with three parts to every problem? Three Act Math is an inquiry-based learning strategy used to teach mathematics at any grade level. Rather than reading a problem from a textbook, each problem begins with the first act—a prompt of an image or short video to ignite curiosity. This makes each problem engaging and connected to the real world. Then based on this prompt, students determine the driving question to carry them throughout the math problem. If this strategy interests you, join this session to learn how the rest of the story ends!

This is a beautiful opportunity for interdisciplinary learning with literacy, as storytelling in ScratchJr can be an engaging and meaningful extension of writer's workshop. Though legend says there is an undiscovered power, Gamification, that we can harness to provide us an opportunity to possibly counter Darth Boredom’s power’s and give us time to empower our learners in Learning.
